ODESHI: E No Dey Leak!

When the devil wants to do you something, he will do you such a strong one that you’ll march to your destruction smiling.

Have you heard of people making plans to cruise in hell? They say they prefer to party in hell than do boring worship in Heaven. Yes, something like that is what I mean by a strong thing.

Think about Judas Iscariot. A hard man, a very hard man he was, our Judas Iscariot. When Jesus revealed that the one that dipped his hand with him into the bowl would betray him, Judas heard it, he dipped his hand and still, he did not shake. His heart did not tremble.

Even when Jesus said, “make haste to do what you plan”. Judas still did “Odeshi; e no dey leak!” He was always chesting the word of God like a professional football player. This same guy would later swagger up to his master, hail him, “how far?” right before the betraying kiss. What a heart!

I still don’t get it. I mean there’s secret sin when you want to hide to do evil but when guilt and shame are non-existent? That’s another kind of heart. Some of us call it shamelessness but the matter is more serious than that.

What’s sad about Judas? If his eyes remained closed forever, I wouldn’t feel bad for him. If he took his money and married another wife, I’ll not mind. I might not even be writing this.

My problem is that some hours later, only HOURS LATER, he’s crying and asking to cancel the deal he made to betray his master but the Pharisees say it’s too late. That’s the word that worries me: Too late.

It’s like right now;

Thousands are smiling as they campaign for gay rights.

Another thousand mocking the concept of Christianity or holiness.

Another thousand zealously going to “work” every day where he sells human parts.

Another is a wife sneaking around with her hidden sin partner. Judas sold the Lord for silver, but you smartass, you’ll prefer to be paid in sex.

Another is a man before a dark mirror, chanting and stabbing a likeness of his wealthy uncle.

Another thousand committing murders, poisoning people, bearing false witness, fraudsters taking people’s life work for their pleasures…

They are not shaking. They have bulletproof hearts. They see the word of God everywhere- social media, streets you name it but every time they beat their chest and say “Odeshi! E no dey leak!” They don’t care. They’ll tell you they’re proud of what they do. There’s nothing wrong with it. After all, it’s their life.

If their eyes would remain closed forever, I won’t complain but they won’t! That’s the problem.

One day. Just one day, every eye will be opened and millions will run to the devil to say, “I don’t want to continue with you” but he will reply with that word- too late”.

They would run to the Righteous Judge for mercy but it’ll be too late because the season of repentance would have been taken and the time for rewards, has now come.

Then the tears and gnashing of teeth would begin. It’s a sad fate. Too sad.

While many hate Judas, pray that your heart never grows a shield against God’s word. Pray that you never become stubborn in disobedience.

For those who are yet to start this journey of salvation at all. Yet, even right now, you hear the truth but you do not hear it… Remember, it’s simply called, one day. One day, this season will pass and you will only hear, “too late.”
